Proper waste management, including the safe disposal of medical and biohazardous waste, further helps prevent contamination and infection spread.
Sterilization and disinfection of medical instruments are equally important. Reusable equipment must undergo rigorous cleaning and sterilization processes to ensure they are free from microorganisms before being used on another patient. This is especially crucial in surgical settings where the risk of infection is higher.
In addition to these measures, infection control programs emphasize surveillance and monitoring. Healthcare facilities track infection rates, identify outbreaks, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
